Al proprio debutto sul tracciato belga, Levente Losonczy e Mikael Karlsson mettono a segno un week-end in crescendo, cogliendo punti importanti ed accumulando preziosa esperienza in vista del prosieguo della stagione
Sotto il sole di Spa-Francorchamps arriva un doppio piazzamento in Top 10 da parte dell’Aggressive Team Italia, impegnato nella terza tappa stagionale del TCR Europe. La formazione di Mauro Guastamacchia ha difeso con onore e grinta i propri colori sul mitico tracciato belga, in occasione di un week-end che ha visto in scena anche i piloti del TCR World Tour. L’équipe lombarda torna dalla trasferta in Vallonia dopo aver svolto un solido lavoro: gli uomini della compagine legata a Hyundai hanno potuto raccogliere dei dati importanti con entrambe le vetture, in un fine settimana non brillante dal punto di vista dei risultati ma che indubbiamente tornerà utile da qui alla conclusione del 2023.
Il poco tempo a disposizione e la necessità di scoprire una location ignota come quella di Spa non ha sicuramente aiutato la compagine tricolore, che ha comunque progressivamente migliorato le proprie performance andando sempre all’attacco nelle due manche disputatesi tra Sabato 27 e Domenica 28 Maggio. L’Aggressive Team Italia rientra quindi in Italia con la certezza di aver accumulato preziosa esperienza per crescere in un campionatori altissimo livello: l’obiettivo è adesso quello di continuare a lavorare in vista dei prossimi importanti impegni a livello internazionale e non solo, approfittando della breve pausa che precederà il round di Budapest del TCR Europe.
L’ungherese Levente Losonczy e lo svedese Mikael Karlsson hanno familiarizzato con il percorso di Spa-Francorchamps durante le prove libere, non avendo mai maturato precedenti esperienze sull’iconico tracciato belga. Il duo dell’Aggressive Team Italia è riuscito a migliorare costantemente i propri tempi sul giro, concludendo le qualifiche separati tra loro da un paio di decimi.
La prima manche è stata condizionata da un lungo intervento della Safety Car che ha sottratto ai due alfieri del team pavese la chance di recuperare posizioni. L’esperto Karlsson, nonostante un contatto alla ‘Source’ avvenuto dopo aver guadagnato diverse posizioni al via, non si è perso comunque d’animo ed ha concluso in 11ma posizione alle spalle del teammate Losonczy, abile ad artigliare la top ten al termine di una prova in crescendo. Per il 20enne di Gyor sono quindi arrivati i primi punti, visto che per lui si trattava dell’esordio stagionale nel TCR Europe dopo l’apparizione dello scorso anno a Monza.
Nella seconda gara, il gruppo si è invece allungato notevolmente sin dallo start. I due portacolori dell’Aggressive Team Italia hanno comunque mantenuto un buon passo gara sugli oltre sette chilometri del tracciato che sorge nel cuore delle Ardenne: in questa occasione, a centrare la top ten nella graduatoria del TCR Europe è stato Karlsson, mentre Losonczy ha terminato immediatamente alle sue spalle.
Mauro Guastamacchia (Team Principal Aggressive Team Italia): “Non è stato un week-end facile, ma del resto ci aspettavamo di incontrare delle difficoltà visto che si trattava della nostra prima esperienza su questo circuito, con i piloti che hanno dovuto adattarsi rapidamente ad una pista lunga oltre sette chilometri. Prendiamo l’aspetto positivo, ovvero quello di aver accumulato dei dati importanti per il futuro ed aver concluso entrambe le gare senza alcun problema. Adesso dovremo rimboccarci le maniche perché ci aspetta l’appuntamento di Budapest dove vogliamo assolutamente ben figurare”
Levente Losonczy (pilota Aggressive Team Italia): “Correre per la prima volta a Spa Francorchamps mi ha consentito di realizzare un sogno che avevo sin da bambino e ringrazio l’Aggressive Team Italia ed i miei sponsor per questa opportunità! Una volta in pista abbiamo cercato di crescere step-by-step, ma inevitabilmente abbiamo incontrato delle difficoltà essendo alle prese con avversari più esperti in un campionato di altissimo livello. Abbiamo comunque portato a casa punti importanti e adesso non vedo l’ora che arrivi il prossimo appuntamento sulla pista di casa”
Mikael Karlsson (pilota Aggressive Team Italia): “E’ stato utile percorrere altri chilometri in gara dopo il mio debutto di Portimao. Mi sto ancora adattando alle caratteristiche di questa vettura, ma sento che il feeling va decisamente migliorando di sessione in sessione. Ringrazio tutto lo staff del team per il grande lavoro svolto e speriamo di continuare a crescere!”
La prossima tappa del TCR Europe si svolgerà in Ungheria sul circuito di Budapest nel week-end del 17-18 Giugno, in un evento che sarà valido anche per il TCR World Tour.
AGGRESSIVE TEAM ITALIA FIGHTS FOR THE TOP 10 IN THE TCR EUROPE AT SPA FRANCORCHAMPS
Making their debut on the Belgian track, Levente Losonczy and Mikael Karlsson score a growing weekend, collecting important points and accumulating valuable experience in view of the rest of the season
Under the sun of Spa-Francorchamps comes a double placement in the Top 10 by the Aggressive Team Italia, engaged in the third stage of the TCR Europe season. Mauro Guastamacchia’s formation defended their colors with honor and grit on the legendary Belgian track, on the occasion of a weekend that also saw the TCR World Tour riders on stage. The Lombard team returns from the trip to Wallonia after done a solid job: the men of the team linked to Hyundai were able to collect important data with both cars, in a weekend that was not brilliant in terms of results but which will undoubtedly come in handy between now and the end of 2023.
The little time available and the need to discover an unknown location like Spa certainly didn’t help the Italian team, which however progressively improved its performance by always attacking in the two heats held between Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May. The Aggressive Team Italia therefore returns to Italy with the certainty of having accumulated valuable experience to grow into a very high-level sampler: the goal now is to continue working in view of the next important commitments at an international level and beyond, taking advantage of the short break that will precede the Budapest round of TCR Europe.
Hungarian Levente Losonczy and Swede Mikael Karlsson became familiar with the Spa-Francorchamps course during free practice, having never gained previous experience on the iconic Belgian track. The Aggressive Team Italia duo managed to constantly improve their lap times, finishing qualifying separated by a couple of tenths of a second.
The first heat was conditioned by a long intervention by the Safety Car which deprived the two standard-bearers of the Pavia-based team of the chance to recover positions. The expert Karlsson, despite a contact at the ‘Source’ after gaining several positions at the start, did not lose heart and concluded in 11th position behind teammate Losonczy, able to grab the top ten at the end of a growing race. The first points therefore arrived for the 20-year-old from Gyor, given that for him it was the season debut in the TCR Europe after last year’s appearance in Monza.
In the second race, however, the group has considerably lengthened since the start. The two bearers of the Aggressive Team Italia however maintained a good race pace on the more than seven kilometers of the track located in the heart of the Ardennes: on this occasion, it was Karlsson who achieved the top ten in the TCR Europe rankings, while Losonczy finished immediately behind him.
Mauro Guastamacchia (Team Principal Aggressive Team Italia): “It wasn’t an easy weekend, but after all we expected to encounter some difficulties since it was our first experience on this circuit, with the riders having to adapt quickly to a runway over seven kilometers long. Let’s take the positive aspect, namely that of having accumulated important data for the future and having finished both races without any problems. Now we will have to roll up our sleeves because the appointment in Budapest awaits us where we absolutely want to do well”
Levente Losonczy (Aggressive Team Italia driver): “Racing for the first time at Spa Francorchamps allowed me to realize a dream I had since I was a child and I thank Aggressive Team Italia and my sponsors for this opportunity! Once on the track we tried to grow step-by-step, but inevitably we ran into difficulties as we faced more experienced opponents in a very high level championship. However, we brought home important points and now I can’t wait for the next round at my home track.”
Mikael Karlsson (Aggressive Team Italia driver): “It was useful to cover more kilometers in the race after my debut in Portimao. I’m still adapting to the characteristics of this car, but I feel that the feeling is definitely improving from session to session. I thank all the team staff for the great work done and we hope to continue to grow!”
The next stage of TCR Europe will take place in Hungary on the Budapest circuit on the weekend of 17-18 June, in an event that will also be valid for the TCR World Tour.
