In the next ACI Racing Weekend, scheduled at the ‘Enzo e Dino Ferrari’ circuit in Imola from 2 to 4 September, the team headed by Mauro Guastamacchia will be at the start of the fifth round of the TCR Italy season with a completely new line-up.

On the two Hyundai Elantra TCR N of the Italian team, in fact, there will be the expert Mirko Zanardini and the young Hungarian rookie Levente Losonczy, who will be ready to face a challenge that for both is new and full of meanings, even if for reasons between them different. The Imola race will in fact represent the official return to competition for Mirko Zanardini, almost a year after the serious injury that kept him away from racing. At the end of a demanding rehabilitation process, the driver from Brescia chose Aggressive Team Italia to get back into the game, after having carried out some profitable test sessions on the Cremona circuit. With a strong competitive curriculum, which has seen him engaged at the wheel of Gran Turismo cars, in the world of hillclimbing and more recently in the Italian Sport Prototype Championship, Zanardini will make his debut in the race at the wheel of a TCR car, taking for the first time familiar with a front-wheel drive car.

The 19-year-old Levente Losonczy will not be making his debut on the Aggressive Team Italia’s Elantra, given that his first experience with the team dates back to just two weeks ago, in the TCR Eastern Europe stage at the Slovakia Ring. Already on that occasion, the young Hungarian talent had impressed everyone with his rapid adaptability to the car, growing progressively over the weekend and finishing the two races with an excellent double sixth place. For him this will be the first contact with the Imola track and with the Italian championship, where he will have the opportunity to compete in this season finale to continue his growth path.

Mauro Guastamacchia (Team Principal – Aggressive Team Italia): “We are very happy to field two Elantra at the start in the Imola round, relying on a new and strongly determined pair of drivers. We welcome Mirko to our team with great pleasure: we have already carried out tests with him in Cremona and in whose eyes we have read all the desire to return to racing after last year’s accident. At the same time, there will also be a good opportunity for Levente, which we have already had the opportunity to know and appreciate in Slovakia and who will be able to accumulate further experience in a context very competitive like TCR Italy. All the staff are very busy in view of this appointment and we will be at the side of our drivers to provide them with all the help we can “.

Mirko Zanardini (Driver – Aggressive Team Italia): “It is certainly a great emotion to be able to return to racing after last year’s injury. Physically I feel ready, although of course I will have to get used to many new features that should not be underestimated, including my first contact with a front-wheel drive car. I had the opportunity to test the Elantra in Cremona and I found it a competitive car capable of giving me confidence, thanks also to the great help of the team and the precious advice of Kevin Ceccon. I am aware that I will not be able to be as fast as the other drivers who have been behind the wheel of these cars since the beginning of the season, but at the same time this represents a very important step for me after the long rehabilitation and I would like to thank Aggressive Team Italia for the opportunity “.

Levente Losonczy (Driver – Aggressive Team Italia): “I am very excited to take on the weekend with Aggressive Team Italia, as this will be my first time ever in Imola and also my first race in the TCR Italy championship. I have done a lot of simulation preparations in order to speed up the learning process of the track, so it won’t be completely new to me. The field is quite big and competitive, which is very nice too. For my second race weekend with the team, the goal is to still learn the car and improve step by step, and to be competitive for Qualifying and the two races”.

The weekend of TCR Italy in Imola will start on Friday 2 September, with free practice sessions scheduled at 11:40 and 16:00. Qualifying will take place the next day at 10:25 and will determine the starting grid for race-1, which is scheduled to start at 17:20. Finally, on Sunday 4th September the second heat will take place with the traffic lights going off at 13:10. Both races will be broadcast on ACI Sport TV and live streaming on the social channels of TCR Italy and the Aggressive Team Italy.
